Brushstrokes of Light:
Exploring the Journey of Fine Art Oil Painting with Julie Brayton
Often I’m told by others that they love the colors in my paintings. Some will ask if I teach.Â
What I teach is without a doubt a challenge as it requires dedication and patience to re-train your eyes to see the world differently.
I have put a lot of effort into my online course to allow aspiring artists to take their time to make this transition. The rewards are great when they do. Not only do they see the world in a completely different light but they are able to create work that is a colorful version of reality. Once the concept is grasped, these artists go on to relay their own voice, a signature style that reflects their understanding of color but in a way that reflects who they are. That could be anywhere from tight realism to loose impressionism, even abstract!
In the learning stages the students work may look cookie cutter but once they get it they fly away from the nest.
I find retired professionals, empty nesters and stay at home parents who are looking for a creative outlet to be great candidates for this type of painting. They tend to want to really understand indepth what makes the process tick so they can make art that expresses who they are. The are often looking to leave a legacy or possibly a side income but mostly to glean a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment.
It is a great way to keep the brain active and strong in addition to taking the person away in the sense that they become so deep into concentration everything else falls to the wayside.
The photos below demonstrate two starts and finishes.
