Do The following Value/Color Chart Exercise. Follow the chart in this PDF.

Copy the white to black value scale at the top. One thing I would do different is to have a white column at the top on the left and a black column on the right.

Mix black and white with equal parts to establish a mid level value. From that mid value, add a little more white for the next block on the left. To that mixture add a little more white for the next square to the left. Do this until you have a value just shy of being white. Do the same with the black heading towards the black.

Take your color from the tube, find the horizontal row for that color then match to a value above. Paint that color in it’s row matching the above square. In the next square to the left from where that colors value starts line up and match the next grey scale square above by adding white to your color. Stay in that colors row.

No color will ever be the same as white. So no color should fall under the white square above.
